Predicting the Future (Premier League matchday 6)

Chelsea vs Manchester City

2-0

A repeat of the Champions League final to start the weekend off. Tuchel has dominated Guardiola so far in the English game and ironically beat the Spaniard in the competition he was brought into win. No one is stopping this Chelsea side at the moment, City could not stop them in Porto and they will not stop them at Stamford Bridge either.

0-0

I refuse to call this one. City have not impressed me too much this season, notably because they do not have a real striker. Having said that, something about this game makes me shy to predict anything other than a draw. I think Chelsea will be surprised at City’s capability when dealing with Lukaku.

Manchester United vs Aston Villa

2-1

United were lucky to gain all 3 points in their last fixture and I think Aston Villa will make it equally difficult for them. Villa are looking a strong outfit nowadays and blew away Everton, if Leon Bailey is anywhere near as electric as last week United could be in trouble.

2-0

I think United are craving some normality. Last weekend, their game with West Ham reminded us why we watch this sport, but I’m sure they would prefer some comfort at Old Trafford against an Aston Villa team who don’t travel brilliantly. There certainly is potential for upset, but 3 pts for the Red Devils for me.

Everton vs Norwich

3-0

Will Norwich even win a game this year? I am definitely not convinced; they have not competed in a single game this season and are inevitably going down. As for Everton a routine victory is the only outcome they should expect.

3-1

The Norwich slander seems to be a recurring theme every week, but I genuinely do not see how they could pick up any points here. Everton will brush them aside. However, notable absences in Pickford and DCL could give the Canaries some hope on their mammoth trip to Merseyside.

Leeds vs West Ham

1-3

This should be a good watch, both teams are full of attacking flair and will be looking to bounce back from poor results last week. Leeds are yet to get their season started and I do not think Saturday will be the day to ignite it either.

2-1

Many would predict West Ham to take all 3 points against a below par Leeds side, but I think the home side have shown some real promise of late. West Ham will still be feeling the afters following their trip to Manchester in the cup, and Leeds could really pose a threat.

Leicester vs Burnley

3-0

The Foxes have really struggled as of late and need a big result to get them moving in the right direction, Burnley seem as dull as ever and have no chance.

0-2

Leicester have failed to impress, Burnley desperately need points. This is bold but I have faith that Barnes and Wood have the ability to turn the match in their favour and deliver some long awaited joy to the Claret part of Lancashire.

Watford vs Newcastle

2-1

Quite an underrated game here could be a potential six pointer. Watford will be in high spirits after a comfortable win over Norwich. The Magpies are nowhere near their best so far and need to start picking up points.

2-1

Emanuel Dennis is my newest addition to the fantasy XI, and I have faith the Hornets can beat Newcastle on Saturday. This is the kind of game they must win to stay up comfortably this season. If the Magpies lose this one, Steve Bruce has real issues.

Brentford vs Liverpool

1-0

Arguably Liverpool’s second biggest test of the season, a magnificent Brentford side. Ivan Toney will cause problems up top, and The Bees’ defence will not give The Reds a sniff, big shock on the cards here.

0-3

I expect a rocking atmosphere to be shut down by some Liverpool brilliance and poise. One cannot underestimate Van Dijk is to the whole team, and their strong start has shown this. Brentford we’re impressive at Wolves, but Liverpool have too much class.

Southampton vs Wolves

1-3

Both teams have started the season slowly and are still figuring out what they should be achieving this season. Wolves have struggled to be clinical in previous matches but this is the game where all hell will break loose.

2-0

A dull game on the cards. Two teams who look very mid table battling it out. Will be interesting to see who starts for Wolves. Armstrong could have a field day against a slower than average back line.

Arsenal vs Tottenham

2-2

3 successive London derbies for Spurs and this may be the only one that they do not drop points in. Arsenal are slowly gaining some momentum but realistically are still yet to get going. Both teams are far from where they want to be and they may both be stuck in mediocrity for years to come, exciting game nonetheless.

3-1

The biggest game in the English calendar is upon us. One team in flying form, one not so much. But in a North London Derby, literally anything could happen. Usually the first to score, loses, so let’s hope Harry Kane can deliver early on for the first time this season. After a huge home attendance saw minnows Wimbledon bow out of the League Cup on Wednesday, I am certain that the manager and the players will be backed in full by the Faithful at Arsenal.

Crystal Palace vs Brighton

0-2

I have said it every week so far and I will say it again, Brighton are massively underrated. This is not a flook and is completely deserved, they have consistently been getting phenomenal results and it will not stop at Selhurst Park.

1-0

One of the strangest derbies in the game, the Seagulls and the Eagles will battle it out under the lights on Monday. An interesting encounter, after Palace gave a great account of themselves at Anfield, and Brighton continue to impress, it’s bound to entertain. Having said that, a narrow home win for me.
